Ministry sign agreement with Allana to mine potash

Addis Ababa, 9 October 2013 (WIC) - The Ministry of Mines here Monday signed agreement with Allana Potash Afar PLC, a Canadian mining company to mine potash in the Dallol area of Afar State for the coming 20 years. The agreement provides for the Company an exclusive right for large scale mining on 310.176 square kilometer.

While commencing operation, the Company will create job for 800 citizens. The Minister, Sinkinesh Ejigu and Company General Manager, Nejib Aba Biya signed the agreement. According to ENA, potash, also known as potassium chloride, is mainly used for the production of fertilizer.
