President Abdi Mohamoud Omar welcomed delegation lead by Netherland’s Ambassador of Ethiopia

Jigjiga (cakaaranews) Wednesday, 29th November 2017. At Garaad Wiilwaal International Airport, ESRS President H.E Abdi Mohamoud Omar accompanied with regional higher officials had welcomed higher delegation led by Netherland’s Ambassador Mr. Ben-tivan Lousderk with Ethiopian Red Cross general secretary Ms. Ferehiwot Warqu.

After welcoming occasion, the regional officials and the delegation were together launched the newly constructed water dam at Harre kebele near Jigjiga city which funded by Netherland’s Red Cross and constructed by Ethiopian Red Cross organization collaborating with ESRS Bureau of water resource development.

On the other hand, Netherlands’ Ambassador told to the media that Netherland have good and long relation which based on mutual interest with Ethiopia government. He added construction of water projects have significant results regarding responding community needs. Again he acknowledged the role of the community for the participation of the construction of this project.

Speaking on the occasion, Ethiopian Red Cross general secretary Ms. Ferehiwot Warqu said “Due to the droughts resulted from climate change, had affected people and also livestock; accordingly we have suggested to construct this water dam by collaborating with ESRS Bureau of water resource development”.

Eventually, disaster preparedness and prevention bureau deputy head Mr. Anwar Ali said that this water dam will have importance for decreasing water need of the pastoral community live in Harre Kebele. He also thanked to the organizations which collaborated for the construction of this water project. However, this water dam will be benefited to more than 1,380 households and 37,000 livestock. And construction of this water dam was expended Birr 13.5 Million.
